West Ham United shareholder Daniel Kretinsky's net worth has taken a hit following a collapsed bid to buy a French IT firm, as shared by Sean Whetstone.

The Czech multi-billionaire saw a £1.7billion attempt to purchase the ATOS IT consulting firm go up in smoke, wiping roughly £300million off his total net worth of £7.7billion.

Forbes' rich list is ever-changing though, and has already updated Kretinsky's net worth at $9.2billion (£7.39million), showing some growth already.

Whetstone relayed the news on X, saying: "Daniel Kretinksy net worth has dropped to $9.1 billion (£7.3 bn) from a high of $9.6 billion (£7.7 bn) according to Forbes. The net worth devaluation of £300m comes weeks after the Czech billionaire £1.7bn bid to buy French IT consulting firm ATOS collapsed."

West Ham have had by no means a bad season, currently sitting eighth in the Premier League table while preparing to face Bayer Leverkusen in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie.

Despite this, their form has been inconsistent across multiple fronts, and after winning last season's UEFA Conference League final, fans and directors alike may feel that David Moyes' time in the dugout has passed its peak.

That's where shareholders like Kretinsky, who will be keen to see his investment grow in the coming years, come in, and it is they who will have the final decision over Moyes' future this coming summer.

Moyes has helped transform West Ham from perennial mid-table strugglers to European regulars during his tenure, but some Irons fans do feel his team selections and tactics could be holding the club back from reaching a higher level.

A comeback victory over Leverkusen - who have just won the Bundesliga for the first time without losing a match - would certainly be one way for Moyes to cement his legacy at the London Stadium, and such a win may convince shareholders like Kretinsky that he is the man to lead West Ham forward.
