West Ham United news as Rob Newman faces exit with new payout – ExWHUemployee
West Ham United head of recruitment Rob Newman is facing an uncertain future at the London Stadium following the appointment of Technical Director Tim Steidten, according to ExWHUemployee.
The Hammers announced the appointment of Steidten on 2 July following his success in a similar role at Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen and will work alongside David Moyes and Mark Noble.
West Ham wish to steer in a new direction, with Steidten set to implement his data-driven methods when it comes to player recruitment which could well cast doubt on Newman’s future.

And according to Ex, speaking on The West Ham Way podcast [4 July], Newman could be offered a severance package to quit the Hammers.
He said: “Rob Newman’s future is very uncertain.
“In Tim Steidten’s announcement from the club, there was no mention of Newman.
“It is clear that his powers have been significantly reduced, and I would say its probably not worth staying on for his career progression.
“The club could now be looking at a severance package.”
Not surprising
West Ham United are certainly set for a gruelling summer of change and much of that will derive from boardroom level right down to the playing staff.
The East Londoners have already got those plans underway following the appointment of Steidten which is impressive given the size of the recruitment task in Moyes’ hands right now and the German’s experience and expertise in the role.

With club legend Mark Noble also working behind the scenes as sporting director, that can only mean one thing for Newman and his immediate future at the London Stadium.
Steidten’s appointment is sure to leave his role severely depleted but that doesn’t mean that the club should let him go so soon. With so much change going to occur both on the incomings and outgoings at the club especially trying to replace Declan Rice, Moyes will need all the help he can get and that includes Newman.
It may be best for all parties involved to keep him on till at least the end of the transfer window.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are now in pole position to land a Premier League-established winger with a £40m price tag on his head.
