West Ham United need to pay £10-12m to get deal done for Lazaro
West Ham are one of the clubs vying for the signature of Flamengo youngster Lazaro, as per Fabrizio Romano.
The Guardian journalist wrote on Caughtoffside substack that the Hammers have had a verbal offer of around £6m already rejected.
Flamengo are “waiting for proposals” from other clubs, including Belgian teams. The Hammers may need to double their amount, in the region of £10-12m, to get the deal done for the “interesting talent”.

Romano wrote for Caughtoffside: “Lazaro is a very interesting talent and I’m not surprised to see growing interest in the player.
“So far, West Ham offered £6m with a verbal proposal but Flamengo immediately refused because they definitely want more, and are waiting for proposals from other clubs, including Belgian teams.
“I believe £10-12m will be needed to get a deal done for Lazaro this summer.”
Let’s see
The 20-year-old is an exciting young talent but he is very young. At the same time, he has very little experience as well.
The Hammers have made a poor start to their new season, having lost their opening three games.
David Moyes will probably look at signing new players in the attacking midfield areas but will Lazaro make any big difference to the current set up?
He has made more than 50 appearances for Flamengo and scored eight goals so far.

The amount quoted for him is huge for a young player who hasn’t played in Europe. There is an element of risk involved in the deal.
Having said that, the Hammers scouts have watched him extensively for the past few months, and they feel he can adapt to the Premier League.
West Ham have already bolstered their forward line this summer by adding Gianluca Scamacca, and Lazaro could only be a back-up option at the moment.
