West Ham United must beat Arsenal to sign Gabriel Jesus

It’s an open secret that West Ham need to sign a striker in the summer transfer window.

The London outfit have failed to recruit a striker since Sebastien Haller had left the club 18 months ago. They must land a top-quality player this summer.

With this in mind, the Hammers must look to bring Gabriel Jesus to the London club this summer.

The Brazilian striker is almost certain to leave the club this summer, and several London clubs including Arsenal are vying for his signature.

According to the CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, who shared the information on The Football Terrace youtube channel, the Hammers have checked in on the Man City striker.

“Arsenal are very much interested, there isn’t much substance to the Chelsea links, Newcastle have circled in the past,” said Jacobs.

“West Ham have looked at him, but they’re more likely to try and get Armando Broja from Chelsea for a lower fee, so Arsenal can consider themselves in the mix for this deal.

“But, as of yet, they’ve not tabled an offer. They’ve made enquiries, they’ve spoken about terms and they believe they can get a deal over the line.”

The Hammers must now make a concrete effort to secure his signature. Actually, these are signings that will transform the club, and take them to the top four.

Jesus has proved himself in the Premier League. He was second fiddle to Sergio Aguero most of his time, and yet he managed 95 goals in all competitions for City since joining the club in 2016.

Pep Guardiola was full of praise about Jesus and hailed him as “incredible” as quoted by The Daily Mail on 23 April.

He is a fantastic finisher who has got loads of experience. The Premier League winner won’t take time to settle down and will hit the ground running.

Lack of game time is what has made him decide to quit the club, and that is where Moyes must tap in. The Hammers boss must convince him that he would be a guaranteed starter at the club should he make the move.

Quality strikers don’t come cheap, and the Hammers need to pay a big money to sign him. At 25, his best years are ahead of him, so he’s worth taking a gamble.

The Hammers must beat Arsenal now to get his signature. At least, the club should make a formal move.

In other West Ham news, a deal is on the cards to sign a forward who Moyes once compared to Wayne Rooney.
