West Ham United move for Arnaut Danjuma ‘totally off the cards’ – journo
West Ham United will not sign Villareal winger Arnaut Danjuma this summer, according to The Express journalist Ryan Taylor on Twitter.
The 25-year-old had been reported to have agreed personal terms with the Hammers by The Mirror in the print edition of their newspaper [3 July, page 73].
But Taylor has quashed those rumours entirely and says that not only are those reports false, but the deal is now completely out of the window in a damning update for West Ham fans.
“No truth in claims Arnaut Danjuma has agreed personal terms with West Ham,” Taylor said. “In fact, my understanding is deal is totally off the cards. Not happening. Reports regarding player’s ‘temperament’ have not gone down well.”
The Dutch international had been identified as a challenger for Michail Antonio up-front but West Ham seem unwilling to part with the amount of cash they would need to get this deal completed, both to the club and to the player.
Relief
It might be a shame to miss out on another striker after more than a year of trying but this was not the move we needed to make.
Danjuma is not a striker, no matter how much David Moyes might want to play him there he knows that the Dutchman is a winger by trade and he should only be used as such.

We already have Jarrod Bowen on one side of our attack who is going nowhere and Said Benrahma, Manuel Lanzini and Pablo Fornals can all do a job on the other side.
We don’t currently need a new winger with desperation like we do a striker and a full-back, along with some central midfield cover too.
Moyes has to now refocus his transfer attempts on the positions that really matter for us to improve or we will miss a big opportunity to properly assert ourselves in the top seven of the Premier League.
