Joe Cole gushes over West Ham United playmaker Lucas Paqueta in game v Anderlecht

BT Sport pundit Joe Cole was wowed by West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta’s first-half performance against Anderlecht on Thursday evening.

Paqueta played a starring role in the Hammers’ first half, where the club went 2-0 up against Anderlecht, cruising to an easy half-time lead.

Cole delightfully admitted that Paqueta was a “different class” in the first half, further cementing the Brazil international’s importance to David Moyes’ side.

West Ham

“Paqueta, different class, in between the lines,” said Cole during the half-time analysis on BT Sport 2 (20.56).

The Brazilian is proving to be a shrewd bit of business from West Ham United and long may his irresistible rise continue in all competitions.

West Ham

Worth it.

West Ham United’s club record signing is proving to be worth every penny the Hammers bought him to London for, this blockbuster signing is looking to be a good one.

With Gianluca Scamacca able to link up onto the end of the Brazilian’s magnificent assists the goalscoring opportunities for West Ham moving forward could be endless.

Paqueta is direct, pacy and aggressive with his style of play, something the West Ham midfield lacked massively last season and in recent campaigns.

He’s adapting to English football extremely well after an uncanny start to life in the Premier League, he seems to get better with every game played.

Moyes’s patience with the Brazilian is paying off, he did well not to overuse him in early fixtures where his confidence could have been ruined.

Paqueta’s £51.3million price tag will be justified in the coming weeks, with massive domestic fixtures against Liverpool and Manchester United, can he do it against the country’s best?

Time will tell.
