West Ham United midfielder Freddie Potts seals London Stadium exit for Wycombe Wanderers
West Ham midfielder Freddie Potts has left the London Stadium to join League One club Wycombe Wanderers on a season-long loan.
As confirmed by the official Wycombe website, the 19-year-old is the club’s ninth signing of the summer transfer window.
The website added that Wycombe manager Matt Bloomfield first identified the teenager as an ideal signing during a trip to West Ham training.

“We went along to watch West Ham train at the end of last season and Freddie was a player who stood out, and we identified him as someone we’d love to bring in on loan, so I’m really pleased we’ve been able to make it happen,” Bloomfield told the official Wycombe website.
“A lot of credit goes to Richard Thomas, who has a close relationship with West Ham, including Freddie’s dad Steve and also Kevin Nolan, and it’s great to bring in a young lad who’s highly thought of and has been around a first-team environment at a Premier League club.
“He plays with real energy and athleticism in the middle of the park and will really suit the way we want to play, so I’m excited to see how he develops throughout the season with us.”

Bright future
Potts hasn’t featured for the Hammers in the Premier League, but has shone for the club elsewhere, having played in two Europa Conference League matches last season as West Ham went on to lift the trophy.
The young midfielder can definitely improve the League One club, who will undoubtedly rely heavily on the 19-year-old as they look to finish higher than their ninth place finish last time out.
And Potts’s experience at a club like West Ham will do him and his new side the world of good, with his most recent experience involving being with the first-team on their pre-season tour of Australia.
As for the player himself, more first-team opportunities were potentially on the line in East London given the sale of Declan Rice, but David Moyes looks certain to fill that gap with an experienced player, as opposed to immediately promoting Potts.
He can now instead develop his game lower down the ladder next season at Adams Park with the Chairboys.
