West Ham United after specific type of manager to replace David Moyes at London Stadium
West Ham are not eyeing up Steve Cooper as David Moyes’ successor, according to journalist Dean Jones.
Former Swansea City and Nottingham Forest boss Cooper has been mentioned as one possible contender to take over from Moyes.
However, Jones says the Welshman is not being considered and the Irons are instead looking at managers who have “elite qualities”.
“At the moment, I don’t think Steve Cooper is going to be in that conversation, but I can see why people would expect him to be,” he told Give Me Sport [27 February].
“Perhaps further down the line, if they were to be looking at options and they weren’t falling into place, I think he could emerge as an option.
“But, at the moment, I’m not being told that Steve Cooper is a candidate at all. I think that they are looking at someone who has got elite qualities in the game, primarily.”
Thomas Tuchel, Will Still linked with West Ham job
For all the talk of West Ham looking at replacements for Moyes, the Scotsman has been awarded a new contract and will himself decide if he moves on.
The win over Brentford aside, 2024 has been pretty diabolical for the Hammers and a change of manager has seemed in the offing for a while.

If Moyes decides to call it a day – and ideally he will make a decision one way or another soon – then there are a few predictable names out there and some rather, let’s say, eye-catching options.
Thomas Tuchel, set to leave Bayern Munich in the summer, is a name that would surely get most West Ham fans excited. Will Still is another.
For now, this is purely speculation because Moyes is still in the job and may well stay on beyond the summer. Once he does go, however, the Irons need to ensure they get his replacement spot on.
