West Ham United manager David Moyes saved by ‘calamitous’ VAR – Richard Keys

West Ham United were robbed of a point at Stamford Bridge but Richard Keys thinks that took the limelight away from David Moyes.

The Irons have had a tough start to the new campaign and sit in the relegation zone of the Premier League but there has not been any talk of pressure on the Hammers manager as a result.

Keys believes that there should be more talk over Moyes’ position at the London Stadium if he isn’t to start picking up results more often as the season kicks into gear.

“After an hour at the Bridge, Thomas Tuchel’s coat was on a shaky peg. Had it not been for a calamitous VAR decision (which dampened reaction to the result) Moyes’ would’ve been on the whistle,” he said in his blog.

West Ham have the luxury of the Europa Conference League to forget their Premier League issues but they will soon be back into domestic action when Newcastle come to town on Sunday.

Credit in the bank

If the past two seasons had seen the Hammers barely survive in the top flight then perhaps there would be a lot of talk surrounding Moyes’ position at West Ham but he has just overseen two of the best campaign in the club’s recent history.

He managed to qualify for Europe in back-to-back campaigns, handling the stress of competing on multiple fronts deep into the season tremendously well and few managers could have managed that.

He has built up enough credit at Rush Green to remain in charge for a long time yet and it will only be around November time, if they are still in trouble, that a change will even be remotely considered.

Keys is typically trying to stir the pot but luckily for the Irons, nobody at Rush Green will be interested in what he has to say and you can’t imagine Moyes will be walking out the door as a result.
