David Moyes to Celtic mooted live on talkSPORT after West Ham United contract update

Paul Hawksbee reacted to the “interesting” comments made by West Ham boss David Moyes as a possible switch to Celtic was mooted.

Moyes confirmed at his press conference on Friday (23 February) that he has been offered a new contract but will wait until the summer before making a decision.

A caller live on talkSPORT [23 February, 3:04pm] suggested that Moyes is destined to replace Brendan Rodgers as Celtic manager at the end of the season.

In response, the host said: “There was a bit of edge from Moyes. The fans might not want him to stay, but he may not want to stay. It’s interesting.”

Brendan Rodgers future uncertain at Celtic

Glasgow-born Moyes would no doubt love to manage at Parkhead one day, and it may well be that Rodgers departs after just one season back.

From the outside looking in, it appears that all is not well at Celtic due to matters both on and off the field.

Should that job become available, Moyes would look at it as a great way straight back into management should he depart London Stadium.

The fact he is holding off for another few months before making a decision on his future makes this one sound plausible.

What that does, however, is bring prolonged uncertainty to West Ham. The club need to find a replacement now if Moyes intends to leave.

The more likely scenario is that Moyes is holding out for a return to form before an announcement is made, rather than right now after eight winless games. Either way, this is potentially one to keep an eye on.
