West Ham United make shock late entry to secure deal for Swansea midfielder Flynn Downes
West Ham have made a “shock” late entry to sign Swansea midfielder Flynn Downes, as reported by Alan Nixon.
The popular journalist wrote on his Patreon on 6 July that Moyes wants Downes to join his squad and that the fee could be agreed in the next 24 hours.
Crystal Palace were also interested in the race, but the Hammers appear to have won the race.

Sky Sports journalist, Dharmesh Sheth wrote on Twitter on 6 July that the Hammers are close to finalising a deal believed to be worth £12m, while the player is expected to undergo his medical within the next 24 hours.
Exciting
This is really a smart business from the Hammers who moved quickly ahead of Palace to secure their target.
At the same time, Moyes is paying quite a handsome fee to secure his signature. However, this is a trend that is common with the Hammers boss.
The Hammers signed Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma from Championship clubs Hull City and Brentford respectively, and both have done well in the Premier League.

There is a natural expectation that Downes would do well, as the club desperately needs to add their midfield this summer. He will provide the midfield cover the Hammers have been craving for, but surely Moyes would be looking to add more bodies in midfield.
While the future of Tomas Soucek is still up in the air, the Hammers are not paying too much attention to that front at the moment.
The 23-year-old can operate in a deep-lying position as well as more attacking roles, but chances are high that Moyes will now look to add a more attacking-minded midfielder next.
