West Ham United make serious move to sign Harry Maguire from Manchester United
West Ham have made a “serious” move to sign Harry Maguire from Manchester United this month, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
Writing on Patreon (18 January), the Sun journalist has shared that the Red Devils won’t let their skipper leave the club this month despite heavy interest in the defender.
The Hammers need a replacement for Craig Dawson if he is allowed to leave the club. They have earmarked Maguire as an option but the Red Devils want the 29-year-old England international to stay.

Maguire is not a guaranteed starter anymore at Old Trafford but he is happy to wait for his chance at United. West Ham have received a bid from Wolves for Dawson, but they need to sign a replacement first to let him go.
Unlikely
Truth be told, West Ham’s January business hinges on the long-term future of David Moyes.
The Hammers boss is struggling to keep his job safe after a poor run of results, and the club could sack him if West Ham lose against Everton.
The club backed Moyes with funds in the summer transfer window but the results have been very poor. He has done a terrific job at the club, but it seems he now has got no clue about how to turn the situation around.

In such a scenario, the club cannot trust him with making new signings, even though it was going to be difficult to lure Maguire away from Old Trafford.
Moyes does have enough options at the back, even if West Ham lose Dawson this month.
Nayef Aguerd, Kurt Zouma, Thilo Kehrer and Angelo Ogbonna are available for Moyes, and the club can manage without signing a new defender for the rest of the season.
