West Ham United make Ibrahim Osman approach as transfer news emerges at London Stadium

West Ham have enquired about the signing of 19-year-old Ghanaian international Ibrahim Osman amid Premier League interest in the Nordsjaelland forward, according to Ben Jacobs.

The CBS journalist reported via his X account [23 January] that, despite January interest from Brighton and Crystal Palace, the Hammers are the most active in attempting to sign Osman from the Danish club.

It is understood that Nordsjaelland would expect at least £12.8million but could hold out for £17.1million for their 19-year-old sensation, with the approach made.

Ghana connection

With a Ghanaian link to current West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus, Hammers fans will be hoping that the connection can help bring yet another talent to London Stadium before the transfer window closes.

The youngster has brightened up the Danish first division since making his debut for Nordsjaelland in February 2023. Since then, Osman has scored four goals and registered five assists in 39 appearances.

Although he has not managed to make his international debut as of yet, with several bigger talents pushing him down the pecking order, Osman is a serious prospect and West Ham would do well to capture his signature, especially before the likes of Roberto de Zerbi’s Brighton.

David Moyes is in desperate need of more attacking players in his side, shown very clearly after Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen sustained injuries, and Kudus went away to the 2023 African Cup of Nations.

Compared to Danny Ings and Maxwell Cornet, the 19-year-old would offer a spark to the West Ham team in the final third of the pitch. However, the Hammers will need to double-check their standings with FFP before splashing the cash on a relatively inexperienced player like Osman.

With Kalvin Phillips on the way in on loan, moves are being made for another transfer already.

In other West Ham news, the club are the most likely to sign a £35million Chelsea ace.
