West Ham United make official David Moyes sack announcement
West Ham United have announced David Moyes will leave the club when his contract this summer expires.
Writing on their official X account (6 May), the Hammers confirm he will leave via mutual consent at the end of the season with an announcement made so fans can give him a send off against Luton in the final home game of the season.
Reports on Monday (6 May) suggest the club have agreed terms with Julen Lopetegui to take over at the London Stadium as head coach as opposed to manager.
West Ham fans owe David Moyes a brilliant send-off
It’s been a rollercoaster of a five years for Moyes and West Ham, but it is without a doubt one of the most successful eras in the club’s history that is coming to an end now.
The veteran boss took over with the club battling relegation and not only steered them to safety, but went on to take the club to European football in three consecutive seasons and also won the fourth trophy in the club’s history with the Europa Conference League.
But with all of that said, it is most definitely the right time for the club and manager to part ways and go their separate ways as fans grow frustrated at his style of play.
He has never been the most popular and his style is polarizing, but the success he has brought has been unparalleled and he deserves to be celebrated for it.
With a decision made and clarity imminent, the fans should give him the thanks and send off that he deserves in his final home game so there are no hard feelings once the season comes to an end.
