West Ham United make £10m bid for Spezia defender Jakub Kiwior

West Ham have made a £10m bid for Polish centre-back Jakub Kiwior, as per Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Sky Italia journalist shared on Twitter on 12 August that the Hammers have indeed made a formal move to sign the Spezia defender.

The Hammers are also in talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a deal for German centre-back Thilo Kehrer.

Di Marzio wrote on Twitter: “12 million Euro (£10m) bid from West Ham for Spezia talent Kiwior.”

The reliable journalist also added that the Ligurian club is pondering whether to sell the player right now. The Hammers could face competition from AC Milan who have been keeping tabs on him for a while.

Interesting

The Hammers are desperate to land a defender this summer, and they have now earmarked Kiwior as a potential option.

Nayef Aguerd, the summer signing, is currently injured, and it has forced West Ham to delve into the transfer market and sign one or two more defenders.

Kehrer is another option the club is looking at, but the Hammers face competition from other clubs regarding the signature of the French defender.

West Ham

It remains to be seen if the Hammers can secure a deal for the 22-year-old defender from Spezia who is highly rated and has two caps for his country already.

The transfer move has taken everyone by surprise, and one can imagine whether Lukasz Fabianski has played any part, maybe recommending his boss, over the move.

At the moment, the Hammers have only one recognised central defender fit to play against Nottingham Forest in their next Premier League game.

Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson are currently not fully fit yet to feature.
