West Ham United made approach to sign Ben Brereton Diaz in last 48 hrs

West Ham have made an approach for Ben Brereton Diaz, as reported by AS.

The Chilean version of the Spanish publication reported on 16 July that in the past 48 hours, West Ham and Leeds have made an enquiry about the situation of the Chilean striker.

Blackburn Rovers have set an asking price of £12.7 million, and as of now, no offer has arrived on the table.

Both Leeds and West Ham have only consulted about the player’s availability, and there has been no formal offer as yet from either of the clubs.

Options

The Chilean international scored 22 goals last season in all competitions, and he would be a decent signing for the Hammers.

David Moyes badly needs to sign a striker this summer, and the Hammers are looking at several options.

The report from AS suggests that Moyes considers Diaz as an alternative for Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca.

In fact, the Hammers are also interested in Chelsea striker Armando Broja as well.

It seems that Brereton is just one of the many options for the Hammers, although it is highly likely that the Chilean is not the top priority for the club.

Ideally, Moyes would love to sign either of Broja and Scamacca, or both, and West Ham could only move for the Chilean if they fail to secure their top targets.

Blackburn have set a reasonable asking price, and it shouldn’t be any problem for the Hammers to meet those demands. The coming weeks could be crucial in the race for the former Nottingham Forest striker.
