West Ham United: Lucas Paqueta meets Brazil boss in London amid ongoing controversy
West Ham star Lucas Paqueta has met with Brazil boss Dorival Junior in London this week to discuss a possible return to the national team, according to Ge Globo.
The Brazilian news outlet reported via their website on 22 February that the pair met to discuss the investigation into betting irregularities which initially saw the star banished from the squad.
It has been said that it is almost certain Paqueta will return to the international side as a result of the recent meeting.
This has come amid interest from Manchester City, who were also initially said to have been put off of a potential deal by the allegations against Paqueta.
Could Lucas Paqueta return to the Brazil team?
With the door reportedly open for Paqueta to return to the national team, thanks to his fantastic form playing for West Ham this season, questions will now be asked about City’s stance.
If the midfielder is set to return to playing for Brazil, they are clearly willing to overlook the ongoing investigation into the irregular betting, suggesting those in higher positions don’t consider the allegations strong enough.
Separate concerns could emerge at the London Stadium as a result of his selection, with the squads set to be named on 1 March, as Paqueta is currently injured.

West Ham will not want to risk him aggravating an injury which has kept him out of action for a crucial spell, particularly given their recent form, having not won a game in 2024.
The player, of course, will be keen to earn another international cap as soon as possible, and if all goes well with his recovery, it seems likely he will return to playing for Brazil.
