West Ham United loanee Said Benrahma flattened by Lyon fan as wild scenes caught on camera

West Ham United loanee Said Benrahma was taken out by a Lyon supporter as fans rushed the pitch after Lyon secured Europa League qualification.

After two seasons away from European football, Les Gones finished sixth in Ligue 1 to ensure they will play on the continent next season.

Alongside Alexandre Lacazette and Rayan Cherki, Benrahma has been a star player while on loan from the Hammers this campaign.

In a hilarious piece of fan footage, the winger was wiped out by a Lyon supporter’s tackle during a celebratory pitch invasion.

Should West Ham United keep Said Benarhma?

The Hammers signed Benrahma from Brentford in 2020 and played a role in the Europa Conference League title win.

The Algerian has made over 150 appearances for the club in which time he has scored 24 goals in all competitions.

After the signing of Mohammed Kudus, Benrahma’s game time was limited at the London Stadium and he made the January loan.

He has gone out on loan and although he hasn’t necessarily been on fire in France, he has scored three and assisted three in 12 appearances [FotMob].

Although this isn’t amazing, he has become a fan favourite in a positive season for Lyon which their fans have clearly enjoyed.

Given that the Algerian’s main talents come with the ball at his feet and getting past players, completing just 18 dribbles in 12 games, he may be disappointed.

Benrahma could represent a useful squad option under Julen Lopetegui but everything rides on the tactical approach he adopts next season.
