West Ham United loanee Arthur Masuaku’s ‘rising form’ convinces Besiktas to activate £2.2m clause, clubs in negotiations

Besiktas are interested in making West Ham loanee Arthur Masuaku’s deal permanent after his recent “rising form”, according to Turkish outlet Fanatik.

Masuaku joined the Turkish side on a season-long loan last summer, with an obligation to make the deal permanent should he make 25 appearances throughout the campaign.

With the player improving his form over the past month or so, going on to register a goal and three assists, it has now convinced the Turkish giants to make the move permanent.

West Ham

Turkish outlet Fanatik.com reveals that the two clubs are currently locked in negotiations and in the event the full-back plays 25 games, for which he is currently on 22 appearances, a “2.5 million euro [£2.2m] purchase option will be activated.”

The report states: “Masuaku, who was expected to be sent at the end of the season under normal conditions, turned the decision into a positive with his rising form.

“Continuing his negotiations with West Ham about the testimonial, if Kartal cannot complete the operation early, Masuaku will play 25 games and a 2.5 million euro purchase option will be activated.”

Time to go

Normally the club are quite stern negotiators when it comes to selling players, but it’s pretty obvious that Masuaku has no future at the London Stadium.

And for that reason, the Hammers would have no problems selling for the quoted £2.2m. Certainly, it’s a relatively small fee for a player still in his prime years.

However, he’s in the remaining 3 months of his contract so that figure represents a healthy sum, seeing as he could leave for free.

Masuaku’s wages are known to be relatively high too, so at this point, it’s best the Hammers just let him go. It seems as if he’s enjoying his time in Turkey so it’s a good deal for both parties.

Good riddance.
