West Ham United loanee Arthur Masuaku three games away from £1.9m transfer to Besiktas, defender to sign 3-year deal

West Ham United loanee Arthur Masuaku is three games away from sealing a £1.9m permanent move to Besiktas, with the defender set to sign a three-year deal, according to NTVSpor.

The left-back joined the Turkish giants on a season-long loan last summer, with an obligation to make the deal permanent should he make 25 appearances throughout the campaign.

Turkish outlet Fanatik reported on 9 March that Besiktas were interested in making a deal permanent due to the player’s upturn in form in recent weeks with the two clubs locked in negotiations and in the event he plays 25 games, a “2.5 million euro [£2.2m] purchase option will be activated.”

NTVSpor [13 March] reveals that the player is three games away from sealing a permanent switch to Vodafone Park, with the Black and Whites set to pay a €2.2m fee [£1.9m].

“When Masuaku plays his 25th game in Beşiktaş this season, the black and white players will receive the player’s testimonial from the Premier League representative.

Masuaku will sign a 3-year contract with the black and white team if he plays in 3 of Beşiktaş’s remaining 12 matches in the Super League.

“Black and whites will pay a transfer fee of 2.2 million Euros to West Ham for Masuaku”, as quoted by the Turkish outlet.

Farewell

Normally the club are quite stern negotiators when it comes to selling players, but it’s pretty obvious that Masuaku has no future at the London Stadium.

£1.9m is actually a decent fee to sell, considering the player has just over three months remaining on his current London Stadium deal. That money will become incredibly useful to the Hammers this summer.

Masuaku had failed to establish himself under David Moyes, despite showing flashes of his brilliance from time to time. However, Premier League-level football requires consistency and the player just didn’t have the remit to perform every week.

The Hammers can finally say farewell to the player, and he certainly won’t be the last to walk out the London Stadium doors in the near future with the club set to undergo a huge squad revamp for next season.

For now, though, their Premier League status for next season is in serious jeopardy.
