West Ham United leading race for Chelsea striker Armando Broja, face Premier League competition
West Ham are targeting a January move for Chelsea striker Armando Broja, according to Football Transfers.
The online news outlet reported on Monday [11 December] that the Hammers are leading the race to sign the Albanian forward, with several Premier League clubs wanting his signature.
West Ham are thought to be in the market for reinforcements up top with Michail Antonio injured, while Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus – both at home playing out wide – have been utilised as strikers this term.

Broja has started just three league games this season, scoring once in a 2-0 victory over Fulham and assisting in a one-minute cameo in the 4-4 draw with Manchester City.
The striker spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Southampton, and after a positive return of nine goals in 38 appearances, it was hoped Broja would become a more important player at Stamford Bridge but a serious knee injury curtailed his progress.
A sensible transfer
Despite Chelsea’s worries in front of goal, it is expected that the Blues will dip back into the transfer market in January for more attacking players.
And a move away to East London could be on the cards as Mauricio Pochettino continues to prefer Nicolas Jackson leading the line, who has scored six league goals so far.

Similarly to Chelsea, West Ham are searching for a true poacher, especially with Antonio injured and Danny Ings struggling for form this season and expected to move on.
West Ham have a torrid history of strikers at London Stadium and saw Gianluca Scamacca return to Serie A with Atalanta in the summer after a solitary season at the club.
It remains to be seen if the Hammers will move for Broja, but a new striker looks certain to be on the cards next month.
