West Ham United lead race to sign Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton-Diaz

West Ham United are leading the race to sign highly-rated Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton-Diaz, according to Football League World.

Brereton-Diaz has been in fantastic form over the last year, scoring 22 goals in providing three assists in 37 appearances last season.

The report suggests that Rovers may accept a bid of £10million for their primed poacher in January, however, West Ham will face competition from Manchester United for his signature.

Speaking to TalkSport last night, the Chilean spoke about his future openly suggesting he’s happy at the Lancashire club.

“I’ll be there until the end of the season. We’re going to the playoffs. We’ve all bought into getting promoted,” he said.

Interesting.

With West Ham United signing Gianluca Scamacca already this summer it seems strange that they are being linked with another top striker.

Especially considering that Michail Antonio is still very much up to the job of putting a shift in for the Irons when needed.

Nevertheless, for the rumoured £10million, Brereton-Diaz seems like a bit of a steal, especially when you consider his frightening form in recent campaigns.

It’s never a bad thing to bolster your attacking options and having multiple weapons for David Moyes to choose from is only a positive thing for the team.

The Hammers may be helped by the fact that Blackburn are risking losing Brereton-Diaz for free this summer if they don’t sort out a deal for him in January.

The forward’s contract is up this summer and leaves the door wide open for a January switch, this one is worth keeping your eye on.
