West Ham United latest as new appointment decision made at London Stadium
West Ham United are said to have decided on appointing a director of football in a change of direction at the club, according to Claret and Hugh.
At present, Rob Newman is the Hammers head of recruitment but that role would become defunct under the new plans.
There is ongoing uncertainty at the London Stadium over David Moyes position as manager but his immediate priority concerns the club’s Premier League status and the pursuit of the Europa Conference League trophy.

The report from Hugh Southon details the changes in structure that are envisaged in east London.
“West Ham are ready to appoint a director of football this summer rather than rely on a head of recruitment,” he stated.
“Moyes ensured that he would remain entirely in charge of transfer dealings when appointing his pal Rob Newman as head of recruitment.
“And the view inside the club is that a proper director of football is required to whom the manager is accountable as is the case at other Premier League clubs.
“Most, now have a director of football to whom the club manager is entirely responsible (sic) and that is the way the Hammers are looking to proceed come summer.”

Changes are coming
It is understandable that there isn’t much news coming out of the club in regard to next season given the demands that are currently on the squad and management team, but clearly, something has to give, soon.
Given all the noises from sources close to the club including this one, above, it would be remarkable if Moyes was to still be in the dugout come the first game of the new campaign but now, it is clear that a bigger picture is emerging.
Installing a sporting director would mean having a remit over recruitment, scouting, development and various other aspects rather than just the immediate matters of signings for the senior team.
As stated, it would crucially mean that the manager or head coach is within that structure and answerable to the senior position as much as they would retain a lot of control, as expected.
It is another indication that significant changes are coming for the Irons.
