Kieran Maguire reacts to West Ham United chief David Sullivan after outburst on Sky Sports
Football finance expert Kieran Maguire has thrown a brutal jab at West Ham United chief David Sullivan after his outburst on Sky Sports.
Sullivan hit out at the news that the government had approved an independent football regulator claiming they are “terrible” at running everything.
Maguire highlighted the fact that Sullivan sold Birmingham City to Carson Yeung who is now in prison for money laundering.
“David Sullivan, the man who sold Birmingham City to a person who is now in prison for money laundering, says that football does not need an independent regulator in terms of governance and ownership,” said Maguire on Twitter. (23 February, 2:08 PM)
Hypocrisy at its finest right here and it’s always nice that football has people like Maguire to call people out.

Football finance regulator.
The hope is that the new independent football finance regulator will be able to bring stability to English football and stop clubs from joining breakaway leagues.
It will in turn force clubs to prove their business models are financially sound and that they have good corporate governance before being allowed to compete.
It’s a move that could potentially transcend the Premier League but also every tier of the English game right down to the National League.
Fans will be given a greater say in the goings-on at their beloved clubs and will be allowed input into issues like the changing of teams’ badges or even strips.
Ideally, this would be a massive step forward in the English game but it will be tough to put into practice the methods set out by the independent regulator, especially in the Premier League.
Nevertheless, everyone can agree that this is a huge positive for the beautiful game and with luck, it can be useful to teams lower down the English football pyramid as well as top-flight giants.
