West Ham United keen on Gent striker Roman Yaremchuk

West Ham United are interested in signing Gent striker Roman Yaremchuk this summer, according to Express Sport.

The Hammers have been scouting the Ukrainian forward for over a year, and his name has fallen under consideration as they finalise their summer striker shortlist.

West Ham manager David Moyes wants a quality replacement for Sebastien Haller in the coming weeks, and it appears Yaremchuk has impressed him.

The perfect number nine?

The 25-year-old ended 2020-21 with 23 goals across all competitions for Gent, and has announced himself to scouts at the Euro 2020.

Against the Netherlands on Sunday, Yaremchuk assisted and also bagged the equaliser for his country in their eventual 3-2 loss with a fine header, and Ukraine are relying on his chemistry with Andriy Yarmolenko.

The West Ham winger scored a worldie against the Dutch, while him and the Gent star were on the score sheet during their 4-0 win over Cyprus in last week’s friendly.

Yaremchuk does not only score goals, but he also knows how to assist teammates, registering seven of them last season.

We could do with such a complete forward, and the fact that he is expected to push hard for an exit this summer could work in our favour [Express Sport].

Express Sport claim Gent will look to recoup around £24million for Yaremchuk should he insists on leaving, and that is not expected to be a problem for West Ham.

We will be keeping an eye on Yaremchuk at the Euros, but from what we have seen so far, he could be the perfect man to lead our line.
