Kaveh Solhekol drops West Ham United transfer news on Nicolo Zaniolo

Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol has dropped transfer news on West Ham United target Nicolo Zaniolo, claiming the club were in the background for a transfer.

The AS Roma maestro has been gaining plenty of attention in the January transfer window, with Solhekol sharing that Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund also showed interest.

Solhekol has shared that Sky in Italy confessed AS Roma could be willing to let Zaniolo leave the club this month for £35m, despite an update he received before coming on air that claimed no deal could be reached in January.

“Zaniolo has been linked with a move to Spurs from Roma. The information we had just before the show started was that he could leave Roma this month and they would allow him to leave for around £35m,” as quoted by Sky Sports. (19 January, 17.25 PM)

“They were willing to let him go on a permanent or a loan with an obligation. The clubs interested were Spurs, West Ham and Borussia Dortmund in the background.

“Spurs interested in signing him on loan plus an obligation to buy deal.

“But just before we came on air, I received an update that said ‘no offer from Spurs, Roma won’t sell or loan this window’.

“Although other sources, especially at Sky in Italy, said Roma were prepared to let him go for around £35m.”

West Ham

No Bueno.

It’s hard to see this one happening for West Ham United, especially with the club just splashing the cash on Danny Ings and potentially lining up Terem Moffi.

Add that to the fact that Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund are in the hunt for the Italian maestro and you can just about say no Bueno to this transfer rumour.

The above clubs unfortunately offer a much more attractive package to Zaniolo at this current moment in time and it would be hard to see the midfielder wanting to join a club battling relegation.

West Ham United have quality within the squad of a similar ilk to that of Zaniolo and they are currently failing and giving the club any firepower in the Premier League.

It’s vital that the team doesn’t make any foolish transfers this month, especially with a potential Championship relegation on the cards.

Leave sensational transfer stories like this one until Premier League safety is achieved, something that has to be the priority right now.
