West Ham United: Julen Lopetegui update as offer made to become new manager
West Ham want a decision to be made on the appointment of Julen Lopetegui as West Ham manager by the beginning of May, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Italian source reported [22 April] that the Hammers have already made a “rich” offer to the former Wolves manager and want a decision within weeks, with AC Milan also interested.
This comes after TuttoMercatoWeb reported on Sunday (21 April) that Lopetegui is expected to sign a three-year deal at the London Stadium after the 5-2 defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday 21 April.
David Moyes to leave West Ham United
The Scot has been under immense pressure at the London Stadium this season, and the 5-2 hammering from the Eagles looks to be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.
Moyes’ defensive style of play has been heavily criticised, especially when his side has been opened up on so many occasions, with only three other Premier League teams conceding more goals this season.
West Ham have continued their impressive performances in Europe, having narrowly lost to the newly-crowned Bundesliga champions, but those have not saved Moyes from his eventual doom.
The defeat at Selhurst Park is just the tip of the iceberg, with embarrassing defeats to Newcastle United, Arsenal, Bristol City, Liverpool and Fulham the most obvious matches to target as moments of weakness.

While Moyes has admitted that he currently has a contract on the table at the London Stadium, there would likely be outrage amongst fans if he were to still be manager next season.
Lopetegui has plenty of experience on his CV, including a spell in the Premier League with Wolves, though that would only last 10 months. He will be hungry to prove himself in the division.
In other West Ham news, Alan Shearer has been made to look silly over comments made regarding Moyes.
