Journalist shares major development in West Ham United Luizão transfer pursuit

Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor has shared a major development in West Ham United’s transfer pursuit of Sao Paulo defender Luizão.

It had been reported on December 5 by 90min that West Ham United had agreed to a pre-contract with the defender, something that Taylor has rubbished.

Taylor confessed that “contrary to reports” of an agreed deal for the Brazilian, West Ham United had no deal in place yet and there are several other clubs interested.

“Contrary to reports, currently no pre-contract agreement in place between West Ham & 20-year-old São Paulo defender Luizão,” said Taylor on Twitter.

“Player out of contract on January 31st but any deal will require compensation fee. Fulham & several other European clubs also interested.”

West Ham

Hurdles.

It seems there will still be plenty of hurdles for West Ham United to overcome to secure the Brazilian’s signature, a compensation package and work visa being the two main stumbling blocks.

Nevertheless, there will definitely be fuel to the fire that the Hammers are close to a deal, they’ve been linked with the 20-year-old for months on end now.

Luizão would definitely add some depth to the Irons defensive ranks and in a time where the extent of Kurt Zouma’s injury is unclear, he may be needed sooner, rather than later.

A deal for the defender would be a huge coup and again would highlight the club’s pulling power in the transfer market, something they can use to their advantage in future windows.

With several other clubs reportedly interested however, the Hammers will want to get this deal signed and sealed quickly, to avoid any last-minute blunders.

Expect this transfer ordeal to play out for a little while longer.
