West Ham United: Journalist audibly stunned as David Moyes claim made by Tim Howard

Tim Howard has said he believes West Ham boss David Moyes was a better manager than Sir Alex Ferguson, much to the surprise of The Mirror reporter Thomas Bristow.

The former Manchester United and Everton goalkeeper worked under the current Hammers’ head coach at Goodison Park.

Howard, who is now 44-years-old, hung up his gloves back in 2021 after ending his playing days back home in America.

He made exactly 700 appearances in his career, many of which came in the Premier League.

As posted by Bristow on X, the ex-USA international told The Mirror (5 March): “(Best manager?) David Moyes. I spent nearly a decade with him. He brought me to the football club and loved me and my teammates, cared about us and created a family bond. We won a lot of games, had a few good cup runs, in Europe a bit. Yeah, David Moyes, brilliant.”

High praise for West Ham boss David Moyes from Tim Howard

Howard’s praise for Moyes is a testament to his man management and leadership skills.

Although he still has his doubters from sections of the West Ham fan base, there is no doubt that he is a safe pair of hands for the club at this moment in time. After all, they are sat in 7th place in the top flight table right now and may well qualify for Europe again.

They have won their last two games on the spin against Brentford and Everton which has eased some pressure.

Moyes guided the Hammers to the Europa Conference League trophy last year and that is a moment that will go down in history.

Howard will know all about his managerial style having worked under him for many years at Everton and although suggesting he is better than Sir Alex may be a slight exaggeration, the respect is obviously there for his old manager.

In other West Ham news, they are in talks over a new partnership deal.
