West Ham United injury news as Kurt Zouma could return for Premier League clash v Brentford

West Ham United defender Kurt Zouma has returned to training on Tuesday following an ankle injury and could make their Premier League clash against Brentford, according to reliable club source ExWHUemployee.

The centre-back picked up the injury after just 19 minutes of the 4-3 defeat against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday (29 April) and was forced off for Aaron Cresswell.

It was widely believed that the Frenchman was expected to miss the rest of the campaign. However, Ex, speaking on his The West Ham Way Patreon [9 May] revealed that the former Chelsea defender could still play a part this season.

He said: “The latest official word is that he is way ahead of schedule and that the injury only appears to be a 14 day injury.

“Which given he sustained the injury a week ago on Sunday could mean there is a chance of featuring soon.”

“I have also been told that he resumed training today meaning that there is a good chance he could even target the Brentford game or certainly the second leg of the Europa Conference League if all goes to plan.”

Huge boost

West Ham United were defensivly sound in Zouma’s absence against Manchester United on Sunday as they barely gave Erik ten Hag’s men a sniff in their 1-0 win at the London Stadium.

However, David Moyes will certainly prefer to have his French star back fit and firing on all cylinders, especially with the Europa Conference League semi-final against AZ Alkmaar to come.

Zouma resuming training earlier than expected is a huge and welcome boost for the West Ham United faithful and Moyes as they look to end their rather disappointing season on a high note and winning the European trophy would be a huge step to achieving history.

And Zouma is a vital cog of those lofty plans. The former Chelsea defender is an assured presence, a leader and a quality centre-back when he is on song, and having him fit alongside Nayef Aguerd and Angelo Ogbonna along the backline gives the Hammers every chance they need of achieving something in the coming weeks.
