West Ham United injury news as fans will not want to see Michail Antonio issue – Sky Sports

West Ham United fans will be worried about the fitness of Michael Antonio after medics were called on to tend to the forward in the early stages of the European Conference League encounter against AEK Larnaca, according to Sky Sports.

The Hammers forward has been plagued by injuries this season and was making his first start for David Moyes’ side since picking up a hamstring injury against Manchester United in the FA Cup.

After being hacked to the ground on the ten-minute mark and looking in quite some discomfort, Antonio was deemed fit enough to carry on playing and got his revenge with two beautifully taken goals before the break.

West Ham

As written on the Sky Sports live blog of the last-16 encounter (Thursday, 9 March, 17:55 pm), Antonio was seen rolling on the floor after taking a blow to his ankles – a sight that will worry West Ham fans greatly given his troublesome injury record this season.

Sky Sports wrote: “This is not what West Ham fans will want to see…Antonio has only just returned from injury but he takes a knock to the back of the ankled from Casas.

“He goes rolling over and the medics are on to check him over.”

Worry

Although Antonio was okay to carry on after the rough tackle, it will still have left fans watching from behind their sofas.

The striker has been riddled with injuries this season and, as such, has yet to find his top gear that can be so devastating for Premier League defences to deal with.

In what is likely to be an extremely close relegation run-in, Moyes needs every single player in his squad to contribute. This fact is none more important than up front, where the Irons have struggled all season.

A record of 23 goals from 25 Premier League games is extremely worrying for West Ham United, and if Antonio were to get injured, these problems would certainly be magnified.

The fact that the 32-year-old was deemed fit enough to carry on playing is promising to see, but fans will hope it won’t form into a niggling injury after the European Conference League encounter.
