West Ham United in talks to sign Jordan Torunarigha, player eyes exit

West Ham are in talks to sign Hertha Berlin defender Jordan Torunarigha, as per ExWHUemployee.

The reliable Hammers source wrote on his Patreon on 18 July that the 24-year-old defender has been earmarked as a possible replacement for Issa Diop, should he leave for Fulham.

The German defender has left the training camp with his current club to speak to other clubs about a move this summer.

A host of clubs are vying for his signature, including Gent. So, it would need a very good offer for the player to move to the Premier League.

Planning

The Hammers have already bolstered their defence this summer by signing Nayef Aguerd on a big-money deal.

However, there is a high chance that Issa Diop could leave the club this summer. The French defender has been linked with a host of clubs, including Fulham, but talks appeared to have cooled down.

The Hammers are planning for the future ahead. In case Diop leaves, they want adequate depth in the squad, something they lacked last season.

Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg wrote on Twitter (13 June) that the Bundesliga club are willing to let the defender go for £4.3million.

It seems a decent transfer fee for someone who has represented the country at the under-21 level, as well as in the Olympics. He is a player with a lot of potential, and clearly can be a valuable addition.

He enjoyed a good second half of the season in Belgium, and that’s why they are leading the race at the moment, but the Hammers are not completely out of the race as yet.

His contract expires in the summer of 2023 and the Hammers could look to get him at a bargain price.
