West Ham United in contact with Ghana as Mohammed Kudus injury update provided
Chris Hughton has confirmed Ghana are in contact with West Ham over the injury that has forced Mohammed Kudus to delay linking up with his country.
Kudus sustained an injury last week and played no part in Ghana’s 0-0 draw against Namibia in Monday’s (8 January) friendly.
It had been reported that the versatile forward may miss the start of Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign [Claret & Hugh], but he is now set to join his team-mates on Tuesday (10 January).
3Sports Ghana reporter Owuraku Ampofo shared the update on his personal Twitter page on Monday (8 January).
“Chris Hughton says Ghana and West Ham have been in touch over Mohammed Kudus’ situation, and that he will join the team tomorrow as earlier reported,” Ampofo said.
A separate report by Ghana Soccernet [8 January] added that Kudus is expected to be fully fit for the start of the tournament.
Bad timing
This update thankfully sounds as though Kudus’ injury is nothing serious and that he is on course to play for Ghana against Cape Verde on 14 January.

West Ham will of course want some assurances that the 23-year-old attacker will not be used unless he is fully fit.
Ghana will of course want to start their star player, which is fair enough, but they cannot afford to aggravate the minor injury problem.
United always knew they would be without Kudus for around a month, with his absence coming at a bad time as Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta are also now nursing knocks, while Michail Antonio remains out.
Ideally, Kudus will work his way back to full fitness, play some minutes for Ghana over the next few weeks and return to London Stadium injury free whenever that may be.
In other West Ham news, Rio Ferdinand has made a “big money” player exit prediction at London Stadium.
