West Ham United hunt for new forward reach critical stage after Gianluca Scamacca update
West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca has picked up an injury on his knee after the game against Leeds United, and he could miss up to a month, as reported by ExWHUemployee.
The reliable Hammers source has shared on Patreon (18 January) that the Hammers’ pursuit of a “new forward” has reached a critical stage with fitness concerns over Scamacca.
It will be a massive blow for the Hammers if they lose Scamacca for a few weeks, especially at a time when the club need him to deliver.

“West Ham’s pursuit over a new forward has reached an even more critical stage with news that there are further fitness concerns over Gianluca Scamacca,” wrote ExWHUemployee.
“The Italian forward has been picking up knocks and reported an injury to his knee after the Leeds game.
“Whilst the diagnosis is not confirmed yet it could mean that he may have to miss a period of games with fears of it being up to a month if confirmed to be serious. I will bring you more on this as we have it.”
January window
Scamacca joined the Hammers in the summer window from Sassuolo on a big-money deal but he hasn’t been able to light up the Premier League as many had expected.
Still, Moyes has used him regularly, and losing him would be a massive blow.
Wolves have reportedly shown interest in signing Michail Antonio [talkSPORT (10 January)] but it seems highly unlikely that he would be allowed to leave. No way.

The big question is will the Hammers sign a new striker this month?
To be honest, West Ham’s transfer policy this month hinges on David Moyes’ future.
According to a report from The Guardian (18 January), Moyes could be sacked by the club if the Hammers lose against Everton in their next Premier League game on Saturday (21 January).
With the manager’s future in doubt, the club are unlikely to make any decision on signing players at the moment. It’s a tricky situation, but clearly, the club will have to rethink their strategy if Scamacca picks up a serious injury.
