West Ham United hope to receive Lucas Paqueta injury boost this week

West Ham are hoping that Lucas Paqueta can resume his training this week, according to Six Foot Two.

The Brazilian midfielder picked up an injury during the 1-1 draw against Chelsea at the London Stadium, and it was feared that he injured his collarbone yet again.

However, the Hammers are now hoping that his injury is not serious. David Moyes said that he was worried about the injury, and Six Foot Two reported on 13 February that the player is expected to get his scan result on Tuesday (14 February).

“West Ham are hoping that Lucas Paqueta shoulder injury is not serious so he can resume training this week,” wrote the news editor of Six Foot Two on Twitter.

Finger crossed

Paqueta joined the cub in the summer transfer window for a club-record fee. It has taken a lot of time for the 25-year-old midfielder to get used to the new system and adjust to the pace of the league.

In recent weeks, Moyes made a tweak in the system, where he used Paqueta in the conventional central midfield role alongside Declan Rice. He has looked more comfortable and has been playing with confidence in the last few games.

Paqueta is a versatile player who can play in multiple positions, but this central midfield role suits him. It gives him more opportunities to take touches, dictate the pace of the game, and get more involved rather than playing in a more advanced position.

Losing him now would be a big blow to the club. While Tomas Soucek could come in as a natural replacement, Paqueta’s absence will hurt the team.

West Ham are still battling for survival in the Premier League, and missing Paqueta at this crucial stage will be a big blow for everyone. Let’s hope, the injury is not serious, and that he can return to training quickly.
