Thierry Henry makes Michail Antonio admission as Arsenal beat West Ham United

Thierry Henry wishes had the chance to play with West Ham United forward Michail Antonio during his career after watching the forward against Arsenal.

Antonio and West Ham United fell to a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on 26 December but this did little to throw Henry off loving the Hammers forward’s style of play.

Speaking during Amazon’s live coverage of the fixture, Henry confessed that if you have a brain Antonio would be perfect to play under, admitting he’d love to have lined up alongside him.

“I would have loved to play with Antonio,” said Henry (Amazon Prime, 26 December, 19:31).

“I know people will be saying, ‘what!?’ but he will move, he holds the ball when you come under if you have a bit of a brain you can play underneath him.”

West Ham

Crazy story.

Antonio began his career at non-league Tooting & Mitcham United before joining Reading in 2008. He spent several seasons on loan at various clubs, including Southampton, Colchester United, and Sheffield Wednesday, before signing with Wednesday permanently in 2012.

Antonio’s performances at Wednesday earned him a move to Nottingham Forest in 2014, where he played for two seasons before joining West Ham in 2015.

Since then, he has become a key player for the Hammers, scoring important goals and earning a reputation for his physical and athletic style of play.

Throughout his career, Antonio has faced various challenges and setbacks, but he has consistently worked hard to overcome them and improve as a player.

None more so than this past season, with the arrival of Italian forward Gianluca Scamacca, Antonio has had to become second-fiddle to the blockbuster summer signing.

Nevertheless, you can never write the Jamaican off and he can still be a crucial cog within David Moyes’ West Ham United for a while longer.
