West Ham United have made transfer decision on Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma

West Ham United have decided not to make a move for Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma in the summer window, as reported by Claret and Hugh

The Hammers have been offered the chance to sign the highly-rated midfielder, but they have turned down the chance of making a £25 million bid for the Ivory Coast midfielder.

Liverpool and Tottenham were also offered Bissouma (by his agent) who is in the final year of his contract at Brighton.

The Hammers have set their sight on signing James Ward-Prowse instead this season.

Smart move?

Signing a midfielder is crucial for the Hammers this summer.

Mark Noble has retired from football, while the Hammers are unlikely to turn Alex Kral’s loan move into a permanent deal.

On top of that, Tomas Soucek is also facing an uncertain future at the club, with both parties yet to reach an agreement on contract extension.

Declan Rice has been targeted by several heavyweight Premier League clubs, but the Hammers are confident they can hold on to him this summer.

Bissouma is a box-to-box midfielder who is technically gifted and brings bundles of energy in midfield. He would have been a fantastic addition, but Moyes has other ideas.

Ward-Prowse is a different type of player. He is a set-piece specialist who has got a great range of passes. He would add creativity to the side, something the Hammers are badly lacking.

It remains to be seen if the Hammers now make a formal move for the Southampton midfielder in the coming weeks.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are keeping a close eye on Bayern Munich midfielder.
