West Ham United: Harry Redknapp makes admission live on air after what happened at Cheltenham

Harry Redknapp has admitted he didn’t watch West Ham United’s Europa League win over Freiburg, as he was too busy celebrating after his horse won at the Cheltenham Festival.

David Moyes’ side booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Europa League with a 5-0 win at the London Stadium on Thursday (14 March) to book their place in the next round with a 5-1 win on aggregate.

While most Irons supporters were blown away by the performance, Redknapp didn’t get to enjoy the Hammers’ display after his horse Shakem Up’Arry won the Trustatrader Plate at the Cheltenham Festival.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Friday (15 March, 9:13) he said: “I didn’t see the game, I was dancing in the pub. I was up late, well past my bedtime back at Ben Pauling’s, the local pub in the village with all the stable staff, it was a madhouse.”

Will West Ham United manage to win the Europa League under David Moyes?

Redknapp may not have watched West Ham’s display at the London Stadium on Thursday, but the Irons finally put in a performance that got supporters out of their seats after a miserable few weeks under Moyes in recent weeks.

The Hammers took the defensive shackles off and showed their attacking style as they ran riot thanks to magical moments from the likes of Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus who scored one of the goals of the season.

David Moyes has found himself under increasing pressure at West Ham United.

Hopefully, Moyes’ side will continue to play in this manner between now and the end of the season. If they do, West Ham will have a good chance of booking their place in Europe again this season and potentially having success in the Europa League.

If that happens, Moyes will almost certainly sign on the dotted line and extend his stay at the London Stadium beyond the end of the season and his current Irons’ contract.
