West Ham United: Guvna B rages at Martin Keown after what he said, makes ‘poor’ admission

Guvna B has raged at what Martin Keown said about former West Ham captain Declan Rice following his recent performances for Arsenal.

The award-winning rapper tweeted on Wednesday (25 October) that it was “so poor” from the pundit to suggest on TNT Sports on Tuesday (24 October) that the England international is a “better player” than he thought he was and that a “maturity and character” is coming into his game.

The celebrity Irons fan, whose Hammers-inspired song “Massive” topped the Apple Music charts in January 2022, criticised the former Arsenal defender for thinking the 24-year-old midfielder had learned those traits over the past four months, adding that half the Gunners squad “don’t have that” after being at the club for years.

“This take is so poor from Keown,” said Guvna B. “‘A maturity and character that’s coming in to his game’. What, you think he’s picked that up in four months?

“Half the Arsenal squad don’t have that and they [have] been there for years. More pundits that watch a variety of football matches please.”

Lazy

It’s extremely lazy punditry from Keown to basically admit that he didn’t watch Rice much at West Ham because these are traits he’s had for a number of years.

He was literally the captain of a side that won a European trophy last season and was an integral part of the England team that reached the European Championships final and played in last year’s World Cup.

These are clearly not things he has just picked up after a few months at Arsenal and it’s pretty disrespectful to the Hammers to even suggest that might be the case.

West Ham

Although he is likely to take his game to another level in time, that will come as part of a natural consequence of playing regularly alongside better players and quality opponents.

While it is only one comment, pundits should be more rounded with their views than Keown was in this instance, rather than just being biased towards the club’s they clearly favour.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers want to sign a forward dubbed “incredible” by Neymar as his club want to sell him.
