West Ham United given hope of late Harry Maguire deal by Manchester United win over Nottingham Forest after fee agreed
West Ham were given renewed “hope” that they can resurrect a late move to sign Harry Maguire after he was overlooked for Victor Lindelof on Saturday, according to 90min.
The outlet reported via their website on Sunday (27 August) that the Irons have “not fully given up” on a move for the former Manchester United captain having agreed a £30million fee earlier this month, before the 30-year-old was unable to agree a pay-off to leave Old Trafford.
But with Maguire left on the bench as Swede Lindelof was brought on for the injured Raphael Varane in the 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest West Ham spy a chance to agree a deal before the deadline.

A loan for the England defender has been mooted as West Ham know it might be difficult for him to negotiate a permanent exit from Manchester.
Necessary?
David Moyes clearly likes Maguire a great deal and spent much of the summer trailing him despite frustratingly slow progress.
Having signed Konstantinos Mavropanos from Stuttgart the Irons boss doesn’t necessarily need another centre-back now, but the ex-captain at Old Trafford’s leadership ability appears to be part of the attraction.
Perhaps the start to the season will have driven home to Maguire that he faces a lot more time sat on the bench than he does on the pitch and he would be more ready to make the switch.

From a West Ham point of view they can look to capitalise on the situation in the final days of the window as long as it doesn’t distract from more pressing business.
A left-back is needed amid links to numerous options this summer, and despite the ability of the imminent Mohammed Kudus to play up front another striker might make sense.
In defence it is never long before another centre-back is ruled out through injury at West Ham in recent seasons so another proven Premier League option wouldn’t be bad, as long as the numbers work.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers have been offered a new £27million goal scorer.
