West Ham United given clear run to sign Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney amid Newcastle and Chelsea transfer development

West Ham now appear to have a clear run at signing Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney with Newcastle closing in on another deal with Chelsea.

According to the I on Wednesday (16 August), Tierney was on the Magpies’ list as well but they’re now close to signing Lewis Hall for £30million.

The Daily Express reported on 15 August that the Hammers have registered their interest in the 26-year-old Scotland international.

Now, with Newcastle signing Hall, there does not appear to be a clear frontrunner to sign Tierney and this is the ideal opportunity to sign the left-back.

While he may have battled injury issues at the Emirates Stadium, he’s still a talented left-back who can compete with Emerson for a starting berth.

The Gunners will also be keen on getting rid of him so will not mind him going at a discounted price.

With the market cooling for Tierney, they can’t even pit multiple offers against each other and the Hammers hold the upper hand in negotiations.

Aaron Cresswell faces an uncertain future at the club and there’s a good chance that West Ham cash in on him this summer.

That will almost certainly see them entering the market for a new left-back and they can then sign Tierney who does appear to be on the transfer list at the club.

In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
