West Ham United get ‘Huge Boost’ as David Moyes shares Lucas Paqueta injury update
David Moyes has shared an injury update for West Ham ahead of their Premier League clash v Brentford, with Lucas Paqueta back in contention.
The Brazilian has been out injured since the FA Cup draw with Bristol City back at the start of January, but is now set to return to action after finally starting training again.
And Moyes, speaking in his pre-game press conference (23 February), admitted that the team have missed their star playmaker and that his return will be a “huge boost” to the team.
“We picked up a few injuries to two really important players, so if you look at the changes we had to make in the early part of January to where we are now, so it’s good,” he said.
“Lucas Paqueta is back in training, very close to returning. Hopefully that will give us a huge boost.”
Lucas Paqueta returning is perfect for West Ham
The Hammers have absolutely missed Paqueta for a long time, and the lack of creativity in the side has been evident too.
Moyes has failed to win a game in the last eight outings, and failed to win any of the six games that Paqueta has missed. Now that he is due back, the team should see an improvement up top.
Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus have struggled with little help in the attacking areas and it has made things difficult to get results, but defensively the team have been awful too.
Paqueta will help the team keep the ball better which will help in defensive transitions, while they will also benefit from his energy in midfield.
But Moyes must ensure that he isn’t rushed back because if he is to get injured again, it could be the start of the end when it comes to getting results in the rest of the campaign.
