West Ham United future for Alphonse Areola to be decided in scheduled meeting
A meeting has been scheduled between Alphonse Areola’s agent and Paris Saint-Germain over his West Ham future, according to RMC Sport journalist Loic Tanzi.
The 29-year-old French international played all of the Hammers’ Europa League and domestic cup games this season, helping them to the semi-finals of the former, and David Moyes might want to keep him permanently from next season.
He was still the understudy to Lukasz Fabianski in the Premier League in 2021-22 but the Pole is now 37 years of age and the manager is starting to look towards life beyond him.
Tanzi reported that Areola’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, is due to meet with representatives from Ligue 1 champions PSG over what the future holds for his client and West Ham will be on red alert when the meeting happens.
“A meeting is scheduled in the next few days in Paris between Rafaela Pimenta and the management of PSG,” he wrote via his personal Twitter account.
“The opportunity to discuss the future of Alphonse Areola, loaned this season to West Ham and who could stay in London. Nothing acted yet.”

The last thing any manager wants to be fretting about is who will put the gloves on and stand between the sticks when game time comes around.
This summer transfer window is a big one for Moyes and the Irons so he really needs to sort out who his goalkeeper will be as soon as possible so he can then focus on the outfield positions he needs to strengthen.
A striker, central defender and a couple of midfielders are probably the main areas he needs to be looking at so the sooner he can confirm Areola’s future is at the London Stadium, the better.
He won’t have to go through any kind of readjustment phase like other players might having already played a season for us and Moyes knows that he can put his full trust in him after what he’s done for us in the cup competitions so far.
If PSG decide his time at the Parc Des Princes is done, then we need to be there to swoop immediately and get his signature down on paper to kickstart our summer of spending.
In other West Ham news, a defensive transfer target has already flown to London for initial talks but he’s back in his homeland now.
