West Ham United: Fulham Issa Diop bid worth £12m plus £8m add-ons

Fulham have made a £20million bid for West Ham United centre-back Issa Diop according to The Daily Mail.

The Mail revealed that the West London club have made an initial £12million bid for the Frenchmen with a further £8million in add-ons.

The Athletic revealed on June 7 that Fulham are battling Ligue 1 side Lyon for Diop and hope to sign the 25-year-old on a five-year contract.

Good business

Fulham should really just cough up West Ham’s asking price for the French defender at this point.

Diop is a good player and has been praised heavily during his time at the London Stadium, but for whatever reason, it hasn’t worked out for the 25-year-old.

Diop is still young and has every chance of going on to rediscover his good form from his early days at the Hammers.

Therefore £20million for Fulham is a completely reasonable price for the defender.

If West Ham did recoup the fee they paid Toulouse for Diop back in 2018 then it would be excellent business by the Hammers.

It would cover most of the fee the club paid Rennes for Moroccan defender Nayef Aguerd earlier on in the summer window.

It is clear that Fulham are willing to pay the £20million for the defender, but the structure of the deal may well be a sticking point.

West Ham will be keen for the transfer fee to be paid in full with no add-ons so they can reinvest straight away.

Let’s see how this one pans out in the coming weeks.
