West Ham United: Fulham hope to offer Issa Diop five year contract
Fulham have lodged a second bid for West Ham United defender Issa Diop and intend to offer him a five-year deal according to The Athletic.
It has been suggested by The Athletic on Thursday 7 July, that the West London club have tabled a £12million plus add-ons bid for the 25-year-old.
It has also been suggested that Diop is weighing up his options with Ligue 1 side Lyon also interested in his services.
Fulham saw their opening bid of £10million plus add-ons rejected by the Hammers.
Good move
This is a move that makes sense for everyone involved.
Diop really struggled to make an impact in the 2021/22 season with Craig Dawson and Kurt Zouma very much David Moyes’ go-to centre-halve partnership.
The further addition of Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd has pushed the French defender even further down the pecking order at the London Stadium.
Diop is at an age where he needs to be playing regular football and not sitting on the bench for the majority of the season.

The defender will certainly be a mainstay in Fulham’s defence for their return to the Premier League.
Moyes has to move players out of the London Stadium this summer to ensure that he can upgrade his West Ham squad in the correct manner.
Moving Diop off the wage bill will give Moyes more wriggle room to improve other areas of his squad.
If the Hammers can muster a fee of £15million for the 25-year-old defender, then a move looks like the most sensible solution for all parties.
