West Ham United forward Jarrod Bowen needs to get back to form

West Ham have made a stuttering start to the season, and the form of Jarrod Bowen hasn’t been impressive either.

Bowen is not only one of the most influential players for the Hammers, but his goals and assists are pivotal for the club.

This season, the 25-year-old has yet to impress. He looked rusty and lacked sharpness in the opening six league games.

Bowen is yet to score and he is yet to provide an assist for the Hammers. This is surprising, considering the 25-year-old usually sets high standards for himself.

Last season, BBC pundit Ray Houghton hailed him as “sensational” for his performance (22 April) against Burnley.

In fact, his sudden drop in form (compared to last season) could see him losing out his place in Gareth Southgate’s first-team squad.

Of course, he still has got plenty of time to get back to full sharpness and force Southgate into picking him for the England squad for the Qatar World Cup. In fact, he may retain his place as well, as per David Ornstein of The Atheltic.

But he needs to get back to form now. The next few months are absolutely vital for him.

West Ham have added depths in their squad, and they could still be able to pull off wins even if Bowen fails to hit the high standards of last season, due to their overall quality.

However, it would only hamper Bowen’s chances of getting into the senior squad. He has been below par. His best performance is probably the cameo against FCSB.

Bowen is a top-quality player and he is more than capable of turning it around.
