West Ham United final league position predicted by supercomputer after Manchester City loss
West Ham United are expected to finish 12th in the Premier League this season after their defeat to Manchester City, according to the Opta Analyst.
The supercomputer has updated its predictions heading into the international break (2 September) after Julen Lopetegui’s side were beaten 3-1 by the Premier League champions at the London Stadium on Saturday (31 August).
Lopetegui’s Irons have a 12.2 per cent chance of finishing 12th in the table, with relegation already seeming incredibly likely in East London, with the prediction suggesting there is only a 2.1 per cent chance of a bottom-three finish.
The Hammers also have an 8.8 per cent chance of finishing in the top six this term so while they are outsiders for a European place, they could still mount a serious challenge in the top half of the table.
Will West Ham qualify for Europe under Julen Lopetegui at the London Stadium?
The Hammers have by no means had an easy start to the Premier League season with games against the likes of Aston Villa and Manchester City, but there have been plenty of promising moments to fill supporters with hope.
Even against the Premier League champions last time out, the Irons’ quality going forward was on display. There may still be question marks around their defensive stability, but the initial signs are mostly positive.
Given the sheer amount of money that was spent over the summer transfer window, there is a feeling that this side should really be challenging for a European place, but is going to take time for so many new players to gel together.

Hopefully, after the international break has been and gone, West Ham will really begin to find their feet under their new manager and results will start to pick up.
If they begin making the most of the quality that they have out on the pitch, that relegation percentage is only going to keep getting lower and lower and that top-six chance should only continue to get higher and higher.
