West Ham United favourite to land Jesse Lingard amid shock MLS switch
West Ham remain “favourite” to sign Jesse Lingard on a free transfer, according to 90 Min.
The website reported on 7 July that despite Lingard being linked with a “shock” move to Major League Soccer, the Hammers remain keen to land him this summer.
The London outfit are yet to agree personal terms with the England international, but they are firmly in the race to sign him, with Everton also keen.

Frustrating
ESPN reported (6 July) that Lingard was ready to listen to offers from the MLS, but the wage demands made by him would make it difficult for most MLS clubs to strike a deal.
After being released by Manchester United, he is looking for a big pay package, and this is where most clubs are backing out in the race.
The Hammers are keen but it seems the saga is far from reaching its conclusion at present.

Lingard enjoyed a successful loan spell in the second half of the 2020/21 campaign where he scored nine goals and five assists in 16 appearances.
He wanted to make an impact at Old Trafford but it turned out to be a disastrous last season for him.
Lingard should look to play regularly and perform once again in order to have any chance of making it to the England squad for the World Cup.
The Hammers have considered other options as well, but getting Lingard on a free transfer move would indeed be a brilliant signing.
