Fans are misreading Declan Rice West Ham United exit comments – ExWHUemployee

ExWHUemployee has jumped to the defence of West Ham United captain Declan Rice after the midfielder’s latest England press conference comments.

Rice highlighted that you only get “one career” and seeing friends playing in the UEFA Champions League and winning trophies begs the question of what you’ve won at the end of it.

Many fans online took this as a clear and obvious fact that Rice will leave the club, however, Ex doesn’t see it that way and simply thinks Rice reiterated his “honest” ambitions.

“I agree. He didn’t say ‘I want to leave West Ham’. He reiterated honestly his ambitions to play in the Champions League and win things when asked the question of whether he wanted to,” said Ex on Twitter in response to a The West Ham Way Tweet.

“These ambitions have been said before and are in line for the standard of player he is.”

West Ham

Spot on.

Ex is completely right on this one, Rice isn’t stating much that he hasn’t already made clear to the public and these are the standard ambitions of every top footballer.

Of course, Rice wants to win the biggest trophies in the game. Who wouldn’t want to be at the level he is playing at?

Obviously, these ambitions do tie in with the narrative that Rice will leave in 2023 and this is a scenario that the Hammers would be foolish not to consider happening.

But ultimately, Rice has never mentioned or alluded to the fact that he will leave West Ham United and for now, his exit chatter is simply rumours.

Until any concrete efforts are made by the England international to leave the London Stadium, it’s best to sit back and enjoy the classy midfielder.

No one knows what the end of 2023 will bring, West Ham United may have even captured some silverware, this would likely sway any decision Rice would make.
