West Ham United face Amadou Onana wait as Everton decision looms

West Ham United face a wait to find out what Everton plan to do with midfielder Amadou Onana, according to The Sun’s Alan Nixon.

Belgian newspaper Le Soir reported on 20 June that the Toffees had slapped a £55million price tag on the 21-year-old’s head.

Nixon reports (Patreon, 2 July) that David Moyes is keen on Onana but the Belgium international would prefer a move to a Champions League club.

Right areas

It’s essential West Ham target the right areas during the summer window.

When Declan Rice’s departure is confirmed, a new midfielder should take priority. However, once that issue has been dealt with, a winger to compete with Said Benrahma and Jarrod Bowen would be handy.

The pair have been David Moyes’ go-to, but competition for places is required with another busy season on the horizon.

West Ham

It feels as if a lot of West Ham’s business hinges on Rice’s departure. Moyes will be desperate for the deal to be concluded soon. There are a number of areas that need strengthening during the summer with a striker also on the agenda for the Hammers’ boss

It promises to be an intriguing summer with former Bayer Leverkusen chief Tim Steidten set to take up the sporting director role at the London Stadium.

The former Bayer Leverkusen chief heads of the London Stadium with a big reputation. Fans will be expecting some astute additions over the course of the summer. Onana would be an excellent addition but whether he is attainable remains to be seen
